Malawi Blue Holly Chalcedony Druse Cabochon

This is a cabochon cut from quartz chalcedony, 'Blue Holly Agate,' from the Nsanje District of Malawi. It is a free-form shape, 41 x 30 mm at its wider points and 5-8 mm thick. It weighs 77 carats. Beautiful stone for a custom setting or wire-wrap design.

Blue Lace Druse Cabochon

55 mm Long Triangular Blue Lace Agate Druse Cabochon

This is a long, triangular-cut cabochon from the druse crystals on a piece of Blue Lace Agate from Africa ('druse' means tiny encrusted crystals on the surface of a rock or mineral, and is often spelled druze or druzy). It has a very textured, sparkling look to it. It is 56 x 24 mm. The girdle is between 5-9 mm wide, slightly beveled at the bottom edge, and pretty close to straight up the side. It weighs 73 carats. It's a beautiful stone, ready for a unique and custom setting.

Blue Lace Druse Cabochon   Item: 1711   Price: $40.00  

Dryhead Agate Cabochon

Dryhead Agate Collectors Cabochon with Face

This is a free-form cabochon cut from a piece of Dryhead Agate. While it is a pretty and unique cabochon with a beautiful fortification pattern in it, notice the face! The artist on this piece, S.A. Wittick, called it an angry man, but to me, it is totally the face of a Cookie Monster! :) Whatever you see in it, it is great collectors piece (and the photo will definitely wind up in our gallery of awesome rocks!) It is just shy of 23 mm at its widest x 44 mm long from the top tip to the opposite side and just under 6 mm thick. It weighs 37.6 carats. The smile of the face is actually two small open crystalline pockets. There is another crystalline area toward the top, but it is filled with agate, and light is visible through that one. The back has a nice polish as well. This is an awesome collectors cabochon, whatever you see the pattern!

Orbicular Rhyolite Teardrop Cabochon

This is a beautiful cabochon from a piece of Orbicular Rhyolite. A friend found this awesome material near Cambria on the Central Coast of California. It is 35 x 17 mm, and 20 carats (4 grams). Artist on this piece is S.A. Wittick. It's an awesome, unique little cabochon, ready for a special setting.

This is a large and beautiful Paul Bunyan Plume Agate cabochon. It is 67 x 30 mm at the widest points, and 5 mm thick. It weighs 67 carats. It is nicely polished on both the front as well as on the back. S.A. Wittick is the artist on this piece. Brazilian Agate Cabochon

Brazilian Agate Cabochon - Lucky Charm Piece - Squid!

This is a neat cabochon, cut from a piece of Brazilian Agate, including the crystal end of the stone. You see the points on the crystals except on the one edge, where the crystal point is missing. Almost looks like a squid swimming! :) It is 63 x 26 mm and just over 6 mm thick. It weighs 94.6 carats. It is polished on both the front and the back. The artist on this piece is S.A. Wittick. It's a special piece that we think will be perfect for the right person!

Obsidian Cabochon

Gold Sheen Obsidian Cabochon

This is a beautiful, larger cabochon cut from Gold Sheen Obsidian. In normal lighting, you barely notice the rich mahogany spashes of color on either side but rock it a little under lighting, or move it into sunlight, and the amazing golden sheen flashes! Despite how it looks like this piece has deep caverns in it, it has a flat, smooth surface on both polished sides. It is 49 mm in diameter and as thick as 10 mm, with a 3-4 mm bezzel. It weighs 177 carats.

Jasper Cabochon

Colorful Oval Jasper Cabochon

This is a colorful Jasper cabochon. We are not sure where the material came from, but we believe it was from the Mojave Desert of California. It is not as bright in natural lighting as it looks in the photos, but move it into the sunlight, or other lighting, and it comes to life with color. It is 52 x 39 mm and 8 mm thick. It weighs 121 carats. The back is lightly finished as well.

This is a cabochon cut from a piece of Horse Canyon Moss Agate. The material comes from the Tehachapi Mountains in California and is difficult to find since the area is no longer available for collecting. It is 51 x 12 mm and 8 mm thick. It weighs 48 carats. There is a nice polish on the front, and the back has a lightly polished surface as well.

Rutilated Quartz Cabochon

Huge 176 ct Rutilated Quartz Cabochon

This is a large piece of Quartz, filled with golden Rutile spikes, gently sculpted into a freeform, triangular shaped cabochon. You can even catch a small glimps of rainbow colors in it, like an iris-affect (apparently that's visible because of small feathers inside the stone) on one corner when moved in the light - awesome! It weighs 176 carats! It measures 45 x 41 mm at its widest points, and has a thick, dome shape that rounds off around 17 mm high. The back is not totally flat, but has a slight curve to it. There is a small 6 mm wide feather near the bottom edge on one side, visible in several of the shots. To use as the focal point of a jewelry piece just realize how large it is in thickness, but it would be gorgeous, or 'stunningly' as the case could be! (You can tell it's not Ed that writes this, right?) I don't think these pictures do it justice ... but it's ready for some awesome setting, or for addition to display as part of a collection!

This is a cabochon cut from a premium piece of Laguna Agate - a peachy triangular area of fortification, surrounded by milky-peach layers, though translucent enough to pick up the background it sits on! There is a light polish on the back side as well. It measures 38 x 22 x 6 mm, and weighs 34 carats. It is closest in natural coloring to those pictured on black.

Purple Morado Opal Cabochon

This is a cabochon cut from a piece of Opal from Morado, Mexico. From what we can tell, it IS Opal, though not what you would normally think of as Opal, but a "common" Opal. Beautiful material, hard to capture its gorgeous color in our photos - these are pretty close, but after MANY attempts! It is 35 x 16 mm at its wider points, and 5 mm thick, weighing around 17 carats.

Imperial Jasper Teardrop Cabochon

This is a teardrop cabochon cut from a piece of Imperial Jasper from Mexico. It is 40 x 29 mm and 5-6 mm thick, weighing 47 carats, or 9.4 grams. I apologize, we could not quite capture the quality of the color in the photos. It is a little more reddish than it appears in the main photo, and the first two additional shots, but the last three are too red - actual coloring is a shade between the two.
