[2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]

This is a large Baker Ranch Thunderegg. The center crystals have a darker look to them - as if they are charcoal-colored, surrounding an area of grey and white fortification. It's heavier than the others, weighing 1 lb, 13.5 ounces, or 835 grams. It measures roughly 5" x 3" and about 2 1/2" thick. (The mate to this side is available as well if interested.)

Baker Agate

Polished Baker Ranch Agate Thunderegg

Baker Agate

This is another Baker Thunderegg, polished on the face. Notice the intriguing pattern - looks brecciated, like chips of the matrix are 'floating' in the agate area. It measures just under 4" x 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" thick. It weighs 14.2 ounces, or 400 grams.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Opal Mtn Thunderegg

[2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

This is another rare thunderegg from Opal Mountain, in the Mojave Desert of California. It is just the natural rock, sliced and unpolished. This was a thin nodule, sliced through, revealing a small area of waterlines. It is roughly 4" x 3" and only as thick as about 21 mm. It weighs 260 grams, or 9.2 ounces. (The mate to this one is available if interested, though not shown.)

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Opal Mtn Thunderegg   Item# 2388   Price: $5.00

Fort Irwin Slab

Rare Unpolished Fort Irwin Transitional Nodule Slab

Fort Irwin Slab

This is an unpolished slab cut from a Fort Irwin Transitional nodule, from the Mojave Desert of Southern California. To our knowledge, the material is rare. We did not slice this one, it came to us this way, through an old collection. It is 6" x 3" at its widest points, and 6-7 mm thick. It weighs 138.3 grams, or 4.8 ounces. It looks like a complete slice of the rock. We know that, for a thunderegg collector, a complete half is desired, but this is a beautiful slice of a rare material. Note that it was photographed wet in all photos except the last two.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Mexican Snowball Agate

Polished, Domed Mexican Snowball Agate

We had this one marked as a Laguna Agate nodule, and then we thought it might actually be a Coyamito Agate, though neither quite looked as we thought they should. HOWEVER, since that point we've learned more and more, and I just noticed the back on this one. Judging from the matrix, I'm pretty sure it is actually a Mexican Snowball Agate. (No photos of the back right now, but will take some soon, or upon request if you don't see the back before I get to it!) Our understanding is that Snowballs may be weathered agate cores of fully expanded thundereggs. Please note that it is domed on the surface, the rough nodule on the back. It is approximately 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" and is between 9-19 mm in thickness. It weighs 28 grams, just less than an ounce.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Black Agate Thunderegg

Polished Thunderegg with Black Agate

Black Agate Thunderegg

[2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

This is a pretty little thunderegg. Unfortunately we're not sure of the locality on this one. My first guess would be Black Rock Desert, or maybe from the Black Agate Mine area of Wiley's Well? Kind of a brick red matrix with clear and black agate, and a very small area of waterlines. It is about 1 3/4" x 2" and 14 mm thick. It weighs 53.4 grams, or 1.8 ounces.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Black Agate Thunderegg   Item# 2742   Price: $6.00

Unknown Thunderegg

Unknown Type Thunderegg - Waterlines, Geode, and More

Unknown Thunderegg

We're not sure what type of thunderegg this one is, though I'm guessing it might be a Wileys Well location. Very neat piece (to me) with all the little details in it, including the open pocket of crystals in the center. It is about 2 3/8" x 2 1/4" and 25 mm thick. It weighs 3.7 ounces, or 105.5 grams. It is polished on the face.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Amethyst Thunderegg

Polished Wileys Well Thunderegg with Amethyst Crystals

This is a thunderegg (a geode) with a small pocket of light amethyst. I believe it is from the Wileys Well area, but I'm not certain and don't know which bed if so. Lots going on in this one. It's polished on the face, but notice in one of the photos, you can see a small edge that didn't polish like the rest. I didn't notice it until I saw the photo. It is about 2 5/8" x 2 5/8" and 61 mm thick. It weighs 370 grams, or 13.1 ounces.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Amethyst Thunderegg   Item: 2740   Price: $12.00

Oregon Thunderegg

Unpolished Oregon Thunderegg with Common Opal & Dendrites

This is another thunderegg with some common opal in it, but it also has awesome little dendrites as well. It is not polished at all. It is another of the numerous miscellaneous sliced pieces from any of the various collections we've acquired. We believe it is from Oregon, Richardson's Ranch, probably Blue Bed. It is 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" and 22-23 mm thick. It weighs 217.9 grams, or 7.6 ounces

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Oregon Thunderegg   Item# 2368   Price: $7.00

Richardson's Ranch Thunderegg

Unpolished Richardson's Ranch Thunderegg

This is a very neat unpolished Thunderegg, we think from Richardson's Rock Ranch. It is roughly 3 1/2" x 3" and about 2 1/2" thick. It weighs 600 grams, or 1 lb, 5 ozs. It is not polished, but it has had a bit of sanding already. Beautiful, colorful patterns in this one, but please note that in natural lighting, it is not as bright as it looks in the photos. Additionally, it was photographed wet in most of the photos.

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Richardson's Ranch Thunderegg   Item# 1771   Price: $5.00

Polished Wileys Well Nodule

Wiley's Well Thunderegg with Neat Inclusions

This is a Thunderegg from Wiley's Well area, polished on the face. It's filled with crystals and agate, with a flat, solid face. You'll easily notice the 'rabbit ears' about the center, but there are several other inclusions that look like they'be been kind of 'stuck' near the 'ears.' It's 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" and about 1 1/2" thick. It weighs 280 grams, or 10 ounces. A beautiful piece to add to any collection!

U.S. shipping cost: $5.50

Wileys Well Thunderegg

Polished Wileys Well Double Thunderegg Geode

Wileys Well Thunderegg

This is a double Wiley's Well Thunderegg, polished on the face. It is two thundereggs formed together, and both have open pockets! When I first pulled this piece I thought the crystals on the one side were a very light amethyst. However, looking at them now, I'm not so sure. They do have a tint, but whether it is more of a light purple or almost a rose - the buyer will need to decide. Pretty piece either way. It is 3 5/8" x 2 1/4" and up to 39 mm thick. It weighs 7.6 ounces, or 215 grams.

Oregon Thunderegg

Unpolished Oregon Thunderegg with Common Opal

Oregon Thunderegg

This is an unpolished, sliced thunderegg, filled with what looks to me as common Opal. It looks like it has been ground down, but not actually polished. It 'sits' naturally on one side. In several of the collections we acquired, we have come across numerous sliced thundereggs. This is one of them. And while we are fairly sure it is from Oregon, we do not know which exact locality. (After showing it in a thunderegg group, we think it is Richardson's Ranch, probably Blue Bed.) It is about 3 1/2" x 3" and 1 5/8" thick. It weighs 12.6 ounces, or 355 grams.

Wileys Well Geode

Wileys Well Thunderegg/Geode with Turkey Tail Pattern

Wileys Well Geode

It's a bright red mineral that covers the crystals in this Wiley's Well thunderegg! Really a neat specimen! I can't tell you all the minerals in the center other than some beautiful Quartz crystals, but they make for a neat display! The matrix of this one has a bit of a 'turkey tail' pattern to it. It is roughly 3" x 2 3/4" and about 40 mm thick. It weighs 290 grams, or 10.3 ounces. It has a polish on the face.

This is a beautiful Moss Agate Thunderegg, from the Lucky Strike Mine in Oregon, nicely polished on the face. It is roughly 2 3/4" around, and not quite 1 1/4" thick. It weighs 225 grams, or 8 ounces. A wonderful piece to add to any collection.

Wileys Well Thunderegg

Unpolished Wiley's Well Thunderegg - Potato Patch, East Bed

Wileys Well Thunderegg

One of the collections we acquired had a large batch of sliced, unpolished thundereggs from the Wiley's Well area. This is one from that batch. We thought this one might be from the Black Agate Mine area. However, with the help of some online groups, we have since determined and are pretty sure it came from the Potato Patch, East Bed. It is about 2 1/2" x 2" and just about 1" thick. It weighs 3.8 ounces, or 105 grams. Please note again that it is unpolished, and all but one photograph of the face were taken of it wet.

Double Thunderegg

Richardson's Ranch Double Thunderegg - Blue Bed We Think

Double Thunderegg

This is a Richardson's Rock Ranch Thunderegg, guessing it is probably from the Blue Bed. An awesome piece - it is at least a double thunderegg, almost looks like a triple! It has beautiful waterlines, a small pocket on one side with tiny blue druse crystals, and even a little moss! It is 4 1/2" x 3-4" and roughly 1 3/4" thick. It weighs 1 lb 10 ozs, or 750 grams. There is a polish on it enough to be able to easily see its beauty, but it looks like an incomplete polish and would be enhanced by a little more finishing. An awesome piece even as-is however!!

Leadpipe Springs Thunderegg

Unpolished Lead Pipe Springs Thunderegg Nodule

Leadpipe Springs Thunderegg

This looks like another Lead Pipe Springs thunderegg. It has a sliced face and is not polished. There are several pockets in it, the largest with some really pretty patterning. In the dry photo, you will also notice there is a fracture running through it. Still - a neat piece. It is 3" x 2" at its widest points, and up to 20 mm thick. It weighs 3.7 ounces, or 100 grams. Actual coloring is closest to how it looks on light background.
